This 4 DVD series tackles today's most widespread Substance abuse problems:

  • Prescription Drugs
  • Oxycontin? and Opiate Abuse
  • Ecstasy
  • Club Drugs

Bitter Pills - Prescription Drug Abuse

Just because pills come from a pharmacy - doesn't mean they are safe!According to the DEA, Prescription Drug abuse is the fastest growing drug problem in America. Women and girls are twice as likely to get addicted. This program shows viewers the dangers of prescription drugs. Many patients become addicted to prescription drugs while under medical care.

Downward Spiral - Oxycontin? and Opiate Abuse

Oxycontin abuse has grown faster than the abuse of any other prescription drug in decades according to the DEA. The drug is as addictive than heroin as it affects the brain and the body in the same way as heroin. Thousands of people have been affected, often fatally, by the misuse of this drug, a time-released painkiller. Many began taking the pills for a medical condition, and end up getting hooked. Others who take opiates for "recreation" think it's "just another feel-good pill," only to find that it is a "take-over-your-life" pill.

    Ecstasy: The "E" Street Blues

This powerful new video looks at the fast-growing problem of Ecstasy use. It examines the ways that MDMA, the active ingredient in Ecstasy drug, affects the body physiologically, and explains why the symptoms of overheating, memory loss, depression and even long-lasting brain damage occur.

    Club Drugs: Dancing with Danger

Club drugs are a dangerous adjunct to dance parties or "raves". Thousands end up in emergency rooms as a result of taking GHB, "roofies" or Rohypnol, LSD, PMA, and other methamphetamines. Young people who have taken these drugs talk about their experiences, and experts who know the effects discuss the danger of combining these club drugs with alcohol and other drugs.
